Palm Treo 755p Launched for Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless today announced the online availability of the Palm Treo 755p smartphone. The device will be in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores on Jan. 7.

Compared to its Treo 700p predecessor, the Treo 755p has a sleeker design with an internal antenna and a soft-touch feel. Featuring a large, high-resolution, color touch-screen for quick stylus access to applications, the Treo 755p offers a full QWERTY keyboard for easy email creation, web browsing and text messaging. It also includes features such as a 1.3-megapixel camera and built-in support for Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents and PDF documents. Customers can view and edit Microsoft Word and Excel files, and view PowerPoint and Adobe PDF files. Running the Palm OS, the Treo 755p gives mobile professionals the tools they need to help maximize productivity.

The Treo 755p offers VersaMail 3.5.45 with built-in Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support for Microsoft Direct Push Technology that delivers email and calendar updates from a home or office PC using Outlook. Businesses connected to a Microsoft Exchange Server get fast, automatic wireless updates of email, calendar and contact information with added IT security and remote manageability.

Users also have the option of using Verizon Wireless' Wireless Sync for access to personal or corporate email, contacts, calendar, and tasks from their home or office PC. Customers can sync up to 10 POP3 or IMAP email accounts, including AOL, Yahoo! Premium and more with their Treo 755p. Wireless Sync supports Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Notes and IBM Lotus Domino.

Customers using the Treo 755p have the benefit of Verizon Wireless' EV-DO high-speed network to send and receive data. For users interested in using their Treo 755p as a modem, the smartphone can take advantage of the 600 kbps to 1.4 mbps typical download speeds of the EV-DO network.

The Treo 755p comes with built-in 60 MB of user-available memory and can be enhanced by using the miniSD slot to add separately purchased memory cards of up to 4 GB for storing data, photos, music, and video.

With Google Maps installed right out of the box, customers can get directions; perform local searches; and view moveable/scalable maps, satellite imagery, and traffic updates while on-the-go. Customers can also map a contact's address directly from the contact listing simply by selecting the "maps" button.

Starting today the LG Venus, from Verizon Wireless, is available in pink. An ideal handset for the fashionista, the Venus' sleek slider design now comes in a sparkly pink finish with the same mobile features available on the popular black Venus.

The LG Venus features a 2.0-megapixel camera, VZ Navigator capability, a microSD memory slot that can support up to 8 GB of additional memory, and dual-screen displays, the lower with touch navigation.

For music and video fans, the Venus also offers access to VCAST Music, which gives customers access to more than 2.5 million songs that can be purchased and downloaded over-the-air to the phone; and VCAST Video, Verizon Wireless' multimedia service with news, sports and entertainment video clips, 3D games and more. Customers can even browse the Web or text message while listening to the music.

Customers can purchase the LG Venus in both pink and black for $199.99 after $50 mail-in rebate and two-year customer agreement at Verizon Wireless Stores, including those in Circuit City, or online.

LG Viewty Debuted in Korea

LG Electronics unveiled the long-awaited Korean edition of its Viewty phone, which was previously launched in Europe in October.

The Viewty is LG's first high-tech category phone, in contrast to the company's popular Black Label Series of design-focused handsets with emotional appeal. Armed with a 5.0-megapixel camera with certified Schneider-Kreuznach lens and manual focus, this full touch screen camera phone is for the serious photographer. ISO800, SmartLight and Image Stabilizer help users take images in low light or while moving. However, one of the Viewty's unique features is the ability to play video at one-fourth normal speed, thanks to is high-speed 120fps video recording function.

Additionally, handwriting editing and drawing function allows consumers to add a creative touch to images directly through the 3-inch LCD touch screen. Finally, users can share their creative work by directly uploading it to the mobile edition of Cyworld, the Korean equivalent of Facebook. For the global version of the phone, the LG KU990, uploads can go directly to YouTube.

The Korean edition of the LG Viewty comes in three models of 7.2-Mbps 3G phone, respectively tailored to all three major Korean network service providers: SK Telecom, Korea Telecom Freetel and LG Telecom. The global edition is a single 3.6-Mbps HSDPA model for the European open market.

The LG Viewty was also launched in Singapore, South Africa, Malaysia, Taiwan, UAE and Thailand in November. The phone will be available by the end of this year in other parts of Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

With built-in support for T-Mobile HotSpot @Home, the Samsung Katalyst provides customers with wireless coverage when placing calls over a home Wi-Fi network and at nearly 8,500 T-Mobile HotSpot locations nationwide. When users leave home or a T-Mobile HotSpot, their calls are passed onto T-Mobile's wireless network, and vice versa. T-Mobile today announced the Nokia 6263, a classic clamshell designed for consumers who want to have the latest features such as email capability with support for attachments, a 1.3-megapixel camera with video recorder and a music player.

The 6263 features a fold-style design, a 2.2-inch 16.7 million color QVGA primary display, large exterior mounted music keys for easy access to saved music tracks, and the ability to hold over 350 songs with its included 512 MB memory card, or up to 3000 with an optional 4 GB card.

Verizon Wireless today announced the availability of the Motorola Z6c World Edition, an eye-catching dual-mode GSM / CDMA slider. The slim Z6c adds global connectivity, comes with advanced mobile phone technology and multimedia features, and is available in Verizon Wireless Stores on Dec. 12.

For customers traveling within the GSM network coverage area outside of the U.S. provided by Verizon Wireless' global roaming partners, the Z6c gives customers on-the-go connectivity. Verizon Wireless's high-speed CDMA network supports the Z6c while it's in the U.S. and in over 22 other countries that use CDMA technology.

The Z6c features fast multimedia capabilities within an espresso casing with a high-gloss front and soft-touch back. Nokia announced the availability of Nokia Internet Radio service. With hundreds of internet radio stations to choose from worldwide, the station directory of Nokia Internet Radio makes music discovery effortless - browsing can be done based on station name, genre, country or language. To find out what hits are hot around the world, hourly updates of the top ten most popular internet radio stations are also available in the station directory.

"Most new music discovery occurs while you're listening to the radio," said Tommi Mustonen, head of the Nokia music business. "By offering the Nokia Internet Radio service on mobile devices, the radio experience becomes more accessible, giving people new ways to find music."

The audio quality is enhanced by selecting appropriate streaming servers that match the speed of the current network connection.

The Nokia Internet Radio application is currently available for download to the following devices: Nokia N82, Nokia N91, Nokia N95 and Nokia N95 8GB. The application is planned to be available later on further devices and will be embedded in selected upcoming Nokia S60 3rd edition devices. During the annual Nokia World conference today, Nokia announced Comes With Music, a new program that gives people who buy a Nokia device one year of unlimited access to millions of tracks. Once the year is complete, customers can keep all their music without having to worry about it disappearing when their subscription is over.

"We set out to create the music experience that people are telling us they are looking for - all the music they want in the form of unlimited downloads to their mobile device and PC," said Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Multimedia, Nokia. "Even if you listened to music 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you would still only scratch the surface of the music that we're making available. Comes with Music fulfils our dream to give consumers all the music they want, wherever they want it, while rewarding the artists who create it."

The program will launch with Universal Music Group International, and Nokia is in discussion with the remaining major international labels.

Verizon Wireless announced the XV6800 is available today online and through stores on Dec. 5.

The Verizon Wireless XV6800 delivers powerful messaging and communications capabilities, including Windows Mobile 6 Professional, which provides instant access to the Internet, calendar and contacts, tasks, email, and much more. Also included are advanced phone features, such as a 2.0-megapixel camera with flash and video capture, and support for Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents, as well as PDFs.

The Verizon Wireless XV6800 lets customers take their office on the road and comes with a hidden, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and Bluetooth technology. Additional features of the XV6800 include:
